Vanilla Golden Milk Latte

The perfect cold weather drink!

Spicy, creamy, amazingly healthy, and the most beautiful golden color! Winning all around. Plus not to mention it’s super simple to whip up. I love seeing that these are becoming more popular and are available at more and more coffee shops, but nothing beats homemade in your own favorite mug.

What the health?

Turmeric // This puts the golden in the golden milk latte. The vibrancy of turmeric is testament to it’s superfood status. Turmeric is a powerful anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant.

Ginger // Ginger is a warming spice and benefits digestion

Cinnamon // Studies have shown that cinnamon can help your body become more insulin sensitive and also lower blood pressure.

Black Pepper // Black pepper increases the bioavailability of food. In other words, just a pinch of this spice greatly increases your body’s ability to absorb the health benefits of turmeric, ginger, and cinnamon.

Coconut oil // A dash of healthy fat helps your body absorb the benefits of turmeric. Not to mention it’s antimicrobial properties.

1 c your choice milk (my favs lately are oat or macadamia nut)

1/4-1/2 tsp ground turmeric (I always go for the 1/2!)

1-4 tsp ground ginger OR 1 tsp fresh grated ginger

1/4-1/2 tsp cinnamon

pinch of freshly ground black pepper

1/2 tsp coconut oil

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

honey to taste

Add ingredients in a small saucepan over low heat. Once heated, strain out grated ginger (optional)
