5 Ways Apple Cider Vinegar Can Boost Your Health

Do you guys have daily routines that just make your day so much better? I could write a whole entire blog post just on habits and routines, because I think they can have such a positive impact on our mood, outlook, pretty much everything. One of my favorite morning rituals is drinking hot apple cider vinegar.

If you’ve never had apple cider vinegar, or even if you have, you might be thinking, “EW.” I totally get it, because this was never something I thought of as something enjoyable to sip on the daily. But when I researched it a little more and found out all the benefits, I was sold. And I’ve honestly never looked back. Here are five great reasons to incorporate ACV into your morning routine:

1. It balances pH levels in the body

Apple cider vinegar becomes more alkaline once consumed, so it helps balance pH levels in the body, therefore aiding in digestion (because food then digests more efficiently) which in turn minimizes bloating and acid reflux. Real life, but I used to struggle with bloating soo much. And I never really thought about why it was happening or that it was abnormal. Lifestyle changes such as drinking more water and eliminating certain foods has helped decrease or even eliminate my bloating altogether, but apple cider vinegar has been a game changer for me in this department.

2. Helps to detoxify the liver

Our livers are so so important and deserve a post all about their magic. For now just know that liver health is directly related to the health of the rest of our bodies, and ACV is a great way to love on our livers.

3. It aids in eliminating bad breath

It’s natural acids (acetic acid and malic acid) work to burn away bad bacteria, making it a natural deodorizer. It’s also great to incorporate in homemade deodorants or cleaners!

4. It boosts your immune system

ACV kills bacteria in your body that could manifest into colds, coughs, or other sickness. If you buy Bragg’s brand with the “mother,” it contains a healthy bacteria boost as well. Throughout history, ACV was used as a wound disinfectant!

5. Wonderful for skin health

Our skin rejoices in the pH balancing affect of ACV! It’s anti fungal, antibacterial, and antiviral properties help remove dead skin cells and leave skin glowing. Personally, I noticed a difference in how clear and radiant my skin became after drinking this stuff (I never used to describe my skin that way before ACV).

I drink my ACV right away in the morning, before or as I’m eating breakfast. I pour 1-2 tablespoons into a small mug, then add about 8 ounces of hot water. I’ve gotten used to the taste just like this, but for those just starting out adding a dash of raw local honey and cinnamon makes this drink extra yummy! Because of the immune boosting properties, I’ll also take shots of straight ACV when I’m feeling the beginning symptoms of a cold come on. Enjoy!
